I've owned a Norelco for many years and this is by far the best one I've ever owned. I recommend this over the self cleaning model. This one cleans really well under the faucet. It is a bit expensive but when you consider it will last for well over 15 years, the price is quite reasonable. It is so quiet, if you shave while driving, you may have to hold it up to you ear to see if it is even on. Great blue, easy to read, readout of minutes used and remaining. Holds a charge a long time.

I bought this for my boyfriend for Christmas. I was really nervous about it because he has sensitive skin. But I did my research. Thanks to reviews like these, I found the Norelco 9190 XL (although I don't believe everything I read). Even after he received it, I was skeptical. I thought it would take him weeks to get used to it. I was afraid it would irritate his skin.
But it didn't! It worked wonderfully and even he says it shaves CLOSER than a blade. His face was very smooth. And he was very happy with it. It's easy to clean out and there are indicators on the screen that tell you when to clean it, charge it, or replace the blades. I'm happy with the purchase and he loves it. He used to cut himself frequently with manual blades. Even the "quatro" blades were of no use. He likes the fact that he doesn't have to keep buying the manual blades and shaving cream. He likes the fact that it's a dry shave.
The only "set-back" is that when your hair is long, it takes several passes to get it close. But I don't know how it compares to other brands on that level. It works with long hair, but much quicker with short hair.

Weakness: Travel case is excellent for the shaver itself, but recharging during travel is not efficient.
Philips/Norelco have achieved the next level in electric shaving. This shaver is about the sixth in a row for me, and this is a huge improvement over the previous generation.

I compared this razor to the Airtech and feel far and away this is the superior product. The shave is fast, smooth and comfortable. The technology of the floating heads makes all the difference. Highly recommend.

My husband was looking for a new electric razor. I heard from a friend about this website. When I saw Norelco XL Smart Touch XL Shaver for sale and read all the reviews from satisfied customers, I decided to purchase one for my husband as a gift. He has been using it for two weeks now and simply loves it. It gives him a real close shave without any nicks or cuts to his skin. He plans to buy another set very soon.

Simply put-The Best Electric Razor Ever!
Strengths: The new cutting system with more 50% more shaving space on each of the 3 blades. The orange flex points. They make the head pivot and bend with the contours of your face making the shave EXTRA close.
Weakness: The grip is a little awkward.
Norelco has out done themselves with the 9190xl razor. They have created a new set of blades that have 50% more coverage than their other razors. The blades are designed to get all the hair on your face both long and short. The holes on the blades are placed in a way so you get the maximum amount of hairs cut on each stroke. Just one look at the razor will tell you it is top notch. It has an aesthetically pleasing color combination of orange, black and dark blue. This looks and acts like an expensive top notch razor. The orange makers on it are used for more flexibility. They make the entire head move along your face so that all 3 blades are always touching your face. I have always had a sensitive face and this razor gives me the closest shave I have ever had with any electric or regular blade. No irritation whatsoever. If you do get a little irritation, you can adjust the personal comfort control meter which Norelco smartly brought back, it has a sensitive, medium and normal setting. The razor will give you a solid 90 minutes of shaving time and with the ease of use combined with the closeness of the shave means you shouldn't be shaving for more than 4 or 5 minutes at a time. In closing this again is the best razor I have ever owned. It was well worth the money spent. Try the Norelco 9190xl shaver and you will be amazed at the closeness and overall quality of your shave.
