2.2GHz - MPN: ADA3700BNBOX
Strengths: Run relatively cool, fast, Socket 939, 1MB L2 Cache, Extreme overclocker
Weakness: none
I'm using this processor with an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard and have had absolutely no problems. The 3700+ San Diego flies through just about anything you can throw at it. This 3700+ overclocks like no other. It can easily reach speeds of 2.6 at stock voltage and stock cooling. Buy AMD and buy this CPU!

TopStrengths: San Diego core, 1MB L2 cache, easy OC'ing = FAST
Weakness: NONE so far
I'm using the 3700 w/ the San Diego core with a Abit AN8 motherboard and 2 gigs of PC-3200 RAM. It overclocks very easy. I got 2.5 my 1st try, and will soon try higher. My last setup was a N-Force 2 board and XP-2500. This setup runs cooler and is lots quicker and quietier, using the "Cool and Quiet" fan setting. Thanks AMD, for a very strong and fast Processor.

TopStrengths: 1024kb Level 2 Cache, Over-clocking
Weakness: None
I am very happy I got this processor instead of the 3500 Venice core. I have and will be a supporter of AMD CPUs. I only recommend this CPU to anyone who wants to over-clock, otherwise spend less on a CPU with the Venice core. I bought this CPU with envisions of running at ~2.8ghz and since it has the same core as the Fx-57, I could over-clock it and spend 4 times less money. I was able to push the HTT on my Giga-byte Nforce4 Ultra SLI to 310mhz at +0.3v with the HT at 3 +0.1v and run completely stable. If I tried a HT of 4 or 5 I couldn’t get past 210mhz with the HTT, which is odd cause it really shouldn’t be the limiting factor. I am not sure if this is an issue with the board or CPU. I am running at 2.790ghz CPU x9 @ 1.65v, completely stable. I am using a Thermaltake Big Typhoon to cool the CPU and never break 43C at sustained full throttle.

TopStrengths: Extremely Fast and 1 Meg cache
Weakness: Cost
This is one of the best processors out right now. Plenty of power to do almost anything you could need. It is however a little expensive. It will eventually come down in price though.

TopEven if you're a millionaire, if you buy new CPU's nowdays you're just a fool. $1000 invested in a few years time can earn you a few hundred bucks. The most I'd spend in 2006 is about $400. There isn't much difference between 64 bit processors really. Dual core isn't really faster, just better for multitasking. If you're not going to do any video editing or business applications or look at porn in 32 browsers at once, just get the single core and save yourself some cash.
Strengths: Great price, incredibly fast and durable processor.
Weakness: Wish they made the same kind of processor in dual core for the same amount of money (wishful thinking)
Great processor, everything moves fluidly and I haven't had any problems yet. The only problem that I've seen thus far is that the processor, in a lot of cases, is a bottleneck for a lot of the higher end graphics cards. Oh well, technology will catch up sooner or later.

TopStrengths: Run cool w/ standard CPU fan, 1 MB cache is a plus
Weakness: none so far
Very happy w/ San Diego core 64-bit CPU that I got this processor for the holiday. The installation is very easy. I am able to OC to 2.5 g and still ran very cool w/ just standard CPU fan come w/ the CPU.

TopStrengths: over clocks like a charm, stays cool,1MB L2CACHE,Cheap
Weakness: Not a Dual Core
I had this processor since December 2006 It has been over clocked since at least mid January I had it hit up to 2.8GHZ stable from the Default (Stock) speed 2.2GHZ on the heatsink and thermal pad that comes with it. No special air cooling No water cooling. I did raise the vcore voltage up pass the Default setting and it still stays kinda of cool.

TopStrengths: price and performance
Weakness: none
I have built many systems with AMD processors, and everyone has been great. This processor is no exception, as it offers great performance at an excellent price. Buying a boxed processor also gives you piece of mind, because AMD warranties boxed processors for 3 years.

TopJust want to note that your warranty is void if you overclock or don't use the heatsink that comes with the product.
Strengths: It's one of the better AMD made. Since those chips are good OCers. Runs cool and quiet. I've managed to OC it to 2.6.
Weakness: It's not dual core.
With this in my rig, it's so much faster than the old computer I had. The Cool and Quiet feature helps too. I just wished I got a dual core instead now people are coming out w/ raving reviews about the X2's.

TopYou probably need more ram or a faster hard drive. What mobo are you using?
You listed as a weakness that it's not dual core, no crap? If it was it would say X2. Don't assume that everyone shopping won't assume that this means the chip isn't good. X2 does nothing for you except help you multitask. If you don't have a bunch of extra crap running at once on your system you'll be fine with this chip.
Strengths: 2000 FSB 3700 1MB cache good deal when I bought
Weakness: costly
I really like like chip, it fast, consumpt less energy and 2000 FSB. This is the second AMD chip I own, the first one I have Intel. Maybe in the future, but for now AMD 64 would be the chip I use and I'm highly recommended. For me, one Video card (VC) for now and the second one later
This is my system:
Athlon 64 3700
Asus A8N-SLI motherboard
MSI 6600 GT VC
128 MB PC3200 Patriot (2-3-2-5)
Asus heatsink (the 4 in 1 heatsink)

TopAre you sure, 128 of RAM? Must be a Unix system?
If he's using only 128mb's of PC 3200 ram then he's waiting on his system. Standard now most would argue is 512. 1 gig isn't rare and 2 gigs is becoming common. I've got 4gigs in my system running Win XP Pro 64...
Strengths: Runs cool, around 102-104f. I had an Athlon XP 2400 that ran around 125F under load.
Weakness: None
I am using this processor with an Abit KN8 MB with 2 gigs ram, Nvidia 6600GT graphics card. This machine is the best I have ever put together. It is a screamer for sure. No problems whatsoever. Highly recommended.

TopStrengths: Fast. Cool
Weakness: None Yet
This processor runs much faster than my previous socket A AMD Chip. It runs on average 40-43 degrees with the stock cooler.
Running on a ASUS A8n-SLI Premium. Multi-tasks very nicely.

TopStrengths: socket 939, 1mb L2, very inexpensive
Weakness: none
i replaced an xp 2000 with an NF2 mobo with this and a biostar NF4 mobo. the difference in speed and performance is very noticable and the price can't be beat. i'm not into overclocking as i would rather have the 3 year warrenty. amd by far gives you the most bang for your buck.

AMD Athlon 64 3700+ Processor
Strengths: San Diego core-1mb L2 cache, easy to overclock, runs cool.
Weakness: none
I OC'd this to 2.5ghz first try, no problem. I'm sure you could hit 2.7 or 2.8, but I'm happy the way it is now. The extra L2 cache is noticable playing games, runnig multiple programs at once, and starting applications. Great processor. It runs at 32C idle and 42C under load-fantastic!

It should be noted that rlb9682 is probably using water cooling or lives in Northern Canada if he's overclocking and keeping it that cool...The average operating temp for this processor is around 50 degrees celsius or so. AMD's max temp range is 49-71°C. My 4200+ dual core is running at a cool 54 degrees at the moment, which is fine, and I'm not overclocked.

Im not seeing any heat problems with my amd. I have 4 case fans it keeps from chip from going over 40c nice and chilly, I usually overclock about 10 percent.
