Recommend not buying from Alpine, but use pricing to negotiate local reasonable price. Read on: Bought Furnace from Alpine because Web Site really looks good. Furnace delivered with a few bends in metal front cover. Had installed by local HIVAC. Furnace worked for one day! Then flame supply pressure pump failed. Alpine accused HIVAC of not installing it right, which really made him mad. Alpine did not want to replace faulty pump. Fortunately local Supplier of same type furnace replaced part under warranty. New pump came and had installed and worked fine, except one of connectors that came installed with it had a slow leak. Not apparent for days. Smelled up house??? Found threads stripped and Teflon was used to try to seal. No Teflon supposed to be used on fittings. Cost of installation & fixing problems double++ what should have been. Bottom line: A terrible experience: Alpine no help with problems: Negotiate knowing cost of furnace, subtract shipping ~$150. Good Luck!!!
Retailer Response (05/14/2012): Alpine provides quality technical support from licensed HVAC contractors and replaces all parts under the terms of the manufacturers' warranties. Rarely, if ever, does Alpine implicate an installer for faulty installation, but if we did in this case, it was because based on the information provided, we determined that the installer made an error, not the manufacturer. We pride ourselves on being a fair company, and try to make the best decisions possible.
